Sussex IM Wins In-Mold Decorating Association Award for Innovative In-Mold Labeling Application on New HEINZ Keystone 3.0 Dispenser

Sussex, WI – September 20, 2024 – Sussex IM, a leader in plastic injection molding and innovative manufacturing solutions, is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious In-Mold Decorating Association (IMDA) Award for its cutting-edge In-Mold Labeling (IML) application on the new Kraft HEINZ Keystone 3.0 Dispenser in partnership with ASEPT, a global leader in dispensing solutions. The HEINZ Keystone 3.0 Dispenser, designed for high-traffic environments such as stadiums and large events, required a robust and visually appealing labeling solution. By leveraging the power of In-Mold Labeling, Sussex IM was able to work with Inkworks Printing to provide a durable, chemical-resistant label that withstands frequent use and cleaning while offering the flexibility for easy graphic updates.

“Our team is thrilled to receive this recognition from the IMDA. The HEINZ Keystone 3.0 Dispenser project allowed us to showcase our expertise in In-Mold Labeling and deliver a solution that meets both the high aesthetic and functional demands of our customer,” said Jim Naatz, Business Development Lead at Sussex IM.

In-mold labeling (IML) is a process where labels are molded directly into the application, creating a seamless, durable finish. The technology also allows for high-quality, detailed graphics, which can be easily adapted for custom applications without interrupting production, making it an ideal choice for HEINZ and their focus on brand consistency and customization.

Sussex IM’s in-house automation team played a crucial role in the success of this project, developing a precise system to pick and place multiple, large, in-mold labels into the mold during production. The successful application of different-sized labels to the three-sided dispenser was a key innovation, allowing for smooth production runs and flawless integration of the IML design.

The IMDA Award recognizes companies that demonstrate outstanding innovation and technical achievement in in-mold decorating and labeling applications.
